Ministry Vision

Our vision is to train and equip the next generation of leaders for ministry. God commands that we should train up a child in the way they should grow so that when they are old, they will not depart from it. I pray there will not be a generation that will grow up not knowing the ways of God. This mandate is clear to continue the work of the Lord so that our children’s children will be great witnesses furthering the kingdom of God and fulfilling all God has planned for his people.

Ministry Scripture

The scripture we are standing on is “Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! 5 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. 7 And you shall repeat them diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. 8 You shall also tie them as a sign to your hand, and they shall be as frontlets on your forehead. 9 You shall also write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Teen Lay Leadership

Lay Leadership Level I

This program is an introduction to leadership development in the local church for the laymen. This program includes a study of leadership skills, spiritual discipline, and understanding how Jesus modeled servant leadership in his ministry. This program emphasizes the responsibility of the laity who are working in ministry to continue the legacy of servant leadership as was demonstrated in Christ ministry on earth and continued today in the local church. Lay Leadership is a five-to-ten-month training class to prepare laity who desire to work in the ministry and may potentially desire to become licensed ministers within the church body. 

Lay Leadership II

This program is an intermediate level of training in leadership development within the local church for lay leaders. At this level lay leaders study materials that cover their ministry interest in great depth. This program continues to emphasize the responsibility of the laity who are working in ministry to continue the legacy of servant leadership as was demonstrated in Christ ministry on earth and is at work today in the local church. This training program is a two-part program that spans over a ten-month period.

Discipleship Class

The Discipleship Class is a training class to help laity and or ministers return to the basics of Christian Education with focused studies on specific epistles found in scripture such as James and the Gospels. It is a ten-week training class that helps the laity and or ministers to continue to stir up their spiritual gifts and study the word of God by being trained and equipped to be the disciples God has called his believers to be in the world today.

Adult & Youth Bible Study Class

The adult bible study class is a midweek training program with studies on a variety of topics that meets weekly with the lead and assistant pastors of the Odenton Church of God in separate studies. The midweek bible study class offers an opportunity to study scripture, understand the spiritual significance of various passages in the life of the believer, and practical application to the biblical truths discovered in the word of God. Every quarter a new topic is introduced to the class with new opportunities for growth and development as students of the word of God.
