Lead Pastor

Reverend Sherise Webb, Lead Pastor

Passion and pursuit are the defining words to characterize the mission of Pastor Sherise Webb. Her passion for education and training is seen in her work as an educator in the local school system in which she has served for over 25 years. Pastor Webb became a licensed minister in the Church of God on December 13, 2000. Her calling has continued to lead her on a journey in partnering with all ages to unfold God’s unique purposes and plans through serving in the Odenton Community alongside her husband, Min. Damon Webb and son, Isaiah Webb.

What is P.O.S.T.?

Odenton Church of God is located in the Odenton community, which is a part of Anne Arundel County, MD. P.O.S.T. came about around 2 o’clock in the morning as Pastors Eddie and Yvonne were praying to seek God for the vision of the church. It seemed fitting to have been given such acronyms as they are at their POST to serve this community.

P is for Partnership. In 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, the Scriptures talk about the body and how one part does not say to another part, “I have no need of you.” When reading this passage, you should look at all the gifts and talents that sit amongst the body of believers here at OCG. If we will Partner together, encouraging one another to accomplish common goals, great things are going to happen.

O is for Outreach. Matthew 25:40 states, “Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me.” The world around us is ever evolving as we see the transitions of many families. Some live in our homeless communities, some live in affluent areas and some are just the middle class. At any time, their situations can change. As a church, we feel it is important to provide outreach ministries to help people from all walks of life no matter the need.

S is for Service. Many of our projects come from the needs of our local schools that are a part of the Anne Arundel County Public School system. We work closely with families, teachers and local social service groups to play a small part at making our community a better place. In John 13, you see the story of Christ washing the disciple’s feet. He was sharing a lesson of servitude and humility with them. It is our place to follow Christ through the example of not thinking highly of ourselves but willing to serve.

T is for Training. As a Pastor/Teacher, I understand the importance of equipping and training. The Apostle Paul says, “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed.” Christ spent many hours with his disciples and followers, sharing lessons and training them. Here at the Odenton Church of God, we count it a privilege to Partner with you as we Outreach into our community to provide Service God has used us to Train not only spiritually but academically as some of our members go into the local middle school to tutor and assist teachers with classroom needs.

Let us stand at our P.O.S.T., making ourselves available for His plan for our lives. Together, we make a great church.

Your Pastor Emeritus,
Eddie L. Sweeney
